FAQs

DO PEOPLE USE THESE BUILDINGS ALL YEAR ROUND?
YES. Our customers use these buildings ALL YEAR ROUND for offices, bedrooms, gyms, workrooms, studios and small business units. They have more than adequate insulation, however they will need a small electric heater during the winter.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO ASSEMBLE ON SITE
Each garden office is designed to erect in a single day, and we would usually arrive at around 9am and be finished between 2 - 3pm. The price includes our trained teams erecting your building. Timescale from ordering to delivery is usually between 4 and 6 weeks.
WHAT IS THE THICKNESS OF THE WALLS
The walls are 103mm thick, made up from 16mm cladding, 75mm framing and 12mm interior lining. The cavity is filled with insulation.
HOW LONG DOES THE BUILDING LAST
The building is designed to last for at least 30 years, by virtue of having tanalised shiplap cladding to the exterior. To maintain the look of the building, it will need treating every 4-5 years depending on how open to the elements it is. The doors and windows will need treatment every 2 or 3 years.
The felt tiles have a life expectancy of about 15 years.
WHAT IS THE APPEARANCE ON THE INSIDE
Although the sections are in 1200mm units, we have found an internal lining board that does not show any joins. This means that there are no cover strips where the wall sections join, ensuring a neat finish to the building. This board appears as vertical tongue & groove boarding. The skirting is also made in one piece so there are no joins along the long or short sides.
The standard floor has a plywood finish which is left ready for the customer to fit carpet or laminate flooring. We can offer laminate flooring, please contact us for details. The ceiling has birch faced plywood and a vaulted ceiling (on the pitched roof versions) which provides a light airy atmosphere to the building.
WHAT COLOURS ARE AVAILABLE?
Doors and windows are available in brown (standard) or painted in a variety of colours. The most popular colours are grey, cream and natural stone.
The cladding is tanalised and is the standard colour. It will fade to a golden oak colour shortly after fitting, but you can stain or paint the cladding if it suits you to do so. Unfortunately we do not offer this service.
WHAT DOES THE ELECTRICIAN HAVE TO DO
The electrician will need to attach the wires to the sockets, the light switch and the consumer unit. All wires are in place but need connecting. The lights will also need connecting. In addition the Electrician needs to supply and fit the wire from the house to the building. The armoured cable will need to go up the outside wall and into the back of the consumer unit.
WHAT ABOUT THE BASE?
We can offer an in-house service for customers within a 50 mile radius of CV47. This means you can add the cost of the base to the building, and we will take the responsibility for the base. We would require a picture of the site before hand. Please contact us for further details.
We can also offer this service for customers within a 50 mile radius of BH7.
For those outside the radius...
The buildings are competitvely priced because we pre-manufacture & erect the building before delivering to your site. Because our offices are so popular, it has resulted in having customers all over the UK, reaching as far as Cornwall, Norfolk, John O'Groats and Carmarthan. Unfortunately this means we are unable to look at the site beforehand to provide an accurate quote for the base for each building.
Therefore to keep costs to a minimum you will require a local builder who can look at the site beforehand, and does not require the same transport costs.
CAN I HANG ITEMS ON THE WALL
The framework of the building is certainly strong enough to hang shelves and other items on. The erecting crew will show you on the day of delivery where the vertical uprights are hidden, to ensure a strong and safe fixing.
WHERE CAN I SEE ONE?
We have a show site in the heart of the Midlands - in Southam (CV47 9QZ) where we have a number of offices and other buildings for you to view. If you are too far away to travel to us, we should be able to find a customer in your area that would allow you to visit their building. Please contact us if this is the case.
For those visiting the site, we are open Mon - Fri from 9am to 5pm
Sat from 10am to 4pm
CAN I HAVE A HEATER
You can plug in a heater which heats the office in seconds, and with the insulation is very cost effective to run. Customers have fitted log burners and radiators.
We can supply heaters for you (usually Dimplex heaters) that are wired to a fused spur. Please contact us for details.
CAN I HAVE CARPETS OR LAMINATE FLOOR
Carpets and laminate flooring is easy to fit after assembly. By simply unscrewing the skirting, the flooring can be laid neatly before the skirting is re-fitted into place.
We can supply laminate flooring as an option but not the carpet.
DO I NEED A CONCRETE BASE
A concrete base is the best foundation for a building that you wish to last, with a paving slab base also being suitable providing the hardcore is sufficient.
Timber and sleeper bases tend to move and settle as the ground conditions change. Bases that are unlevel, or settle with moving ground cause the doors to move and not open properly.
If you are doing your own base please ensure it is flat and level, plus strong enough to take a heavy building.
CAN I CUSTOMISE TO SUIT MY REQUIREMENTS
Yes you can. We can fit doors and windows in the sections that you require and fit partitions to suit your needs. Sockets and lights can also be in the sections that you need them in. Our contemporary design was born from customers needing double doors to get large furniture in, hence if you prefer something like georgian windows for example, we would be happy to accomodate this requirement. If you need an office that is larger than shown on the price list, please contact us for further discussions on your project.
WHAT ARE THE STEPS TO PLACING AN ORDER?
Firstly you will need to measure your garden to see the size that suits you, then choose the design that you like.

You can then either visit our showsite, or contact us over the phone, so we can discuss the design and price of your building. We can provide an accurate quotation, and should you progress to an order, we will require 1/3rd deposit.

Following on from this you will need to have the base constructed ready for our erecting crew to assemble the building for you.
WHAT IS PRESSURE TREATMENT
Pressure treatment is a lifetime preservative treatment offered on the more expensive garden sheds other garden buildings. The preservative is forced into the timber under pressure and penetrates below the surface, whereas all other treatments apply a coat of stain to the surface of the timber only. Pressure treatment is almost colourless except for a slight green tint caused by the copper content in the preservative. If you have a look at timber decking the chances are that it will have been tanalised, which will give you an idea of the colour.
No further treatment is ever needed but if you want a coloured finish you can paint over pressure treated timber with almost anything, including all normal wood preservatives in any colour. You could stain it and then oil it for example.
IS THE TIMBER SUSTAINABLE
Shiplap cladding is usually timber grown from the FSC Scandinavian forests. The forest stewardship council ensure that the timber is continually re-planted to ensure sustainability. The timber is then kiln dried before being shipped to the UK ready for assembly.
The shiplap design allows more expansion and contraction than the close looking tongue and groove, allowing the timber building to breathe and adapt to the climate conditions. The shiplap is then pressure treated with an environmentally sound treatment, to ensure that it is resistant to rot & decay for 20+ years.
WHAT IS SHIPLAP CLADDING
Shiplap features smooth planed and fully interlocking and the design ensures that rainwater drains effectively and the timber dries quickly. This helps to ensure a longer life for your garden office.
DO YOU SUPPLY GUTTERING?
Yes guttering is included. You have the choice of brown (standard) or black. For pitched roofs you will receive front & rear guttering, and for mono roofs you will have rear guttering.
If you supply a water butt, the erecting crew will fit the pipe into it for you.
WHAT IS THE SECURITY?
The doors are fitted with a multipoint lock - and has a Eurocylinder key.
The windows are also fitted with locks to the inside, as per household windows.
DO THE WINDOWS OPEN?
All windows open, and feature trickle vents to allow the building to ventilate when it is shut up.
All doors and windows feature draught proof seals to keep up with modern day standards.
The glass is toughened for safety
DO YOU OFFER FINANCE?
Unfortunately we do not currently offer finance. If this is something that you require please contact us, as we can put you in touch with a finance company.
CAN I ERECT THE BUILDING MYSELF?
It is possible for you to do this, however we often find that this is not a cost effective option, unless you are in Scotland. Please contact us for more details.
CAN I TAKE THE BUILDING IF I MOVE
Yes - this is possible. It takes one day to dismantle and another day to re-assemble at the new site. Larger building find this cost effective, but smaller buildings tend to be sold as an extra to the new house buyer.
